How to Open Visio file without Visio?

In this article, we will learn how we can open a Visio file without Microsoft Visio. Well if you have with extension .vsdx or .vsd it means that this file is related to Microsoft Visio. Then you have to open it without Visio if Visio is not installed on your PC or laptop.

In this article, we will open the Visio file without Visio. There are many methods for the opening of the Visio diagram. But in this article, we will discuss easy and helpful for you to access your Visio file and the amazing thing is that you can edit your Visio file.

The method or tool I am talking about is Draw.io. 

If you have a Visio file then you want to open it then just click on the draw.io then a window will be open on your browse.

When we start working with draw.io the information that asks us is where you will save files also there are many options for saving diagrams.

You can select anyone that you are comfortable with.

I am going with the Device then a new diagram will appear as we can see in the following result.

If you want to create any diagram then you can start with "Create New Diagram". If you want to open your existing diagram like Visio then you can see that after clicking with the "Open Existing Diagram".

When we will click on the second option then we will see that a window will open from our device that asks us the location of the file where your Visio file exists.

As we can see that I have selected a "Drawing3" file which is a Visio file. On my laptop, Visio is installed that is why it shows the Visio icon with the Visio file.

Finally, we can see that we open the Visio file without Visio. If you want to edit it just double click on the text then the text will be editable. Draw.io is also known as diagram.net. Draw.io is totally free you can create your flowchart, org chart, network diagram, and many more that you want to design.
