How to format line in Microsoft Visio?

In this article, we will format the line in Microsoft Visio. We are using Micorosft Visio 2019. Also, we will talk about how we can turn our simple line into a colorful line, dotted line, and insert an arrowhead on it.

First of all, we have to insert a straight line with the help of the line tool. For this purpose, we have to go Home tab then in the Tools Group we will see the shapes pane ( No 3) then click on this pane then the drop-down menu will be open. Now, we can see different shapes like Rectangle, Elipse, Line, Freeform, Arc, and Pencil. We will select the Line tool for our purpose.

After selecting the Line tool then we will click and drag to draw a line. If we want to draw a Horizontal line then we will Click+Shift and draw for Horizontal we will click from left to right or right to left. If we want to insert a Vertical line we will click from top to bottom or bottom to top according to our requirement. After inserting the line we have to select the Pointer tool. Otherwise, you can't work properly because of the line tool.

We can see to a different line. Horizontal line & Vertical line.

Now we will format these lines. For formating, we have to select the line then right-click on the shape then a menu will be open. We can see cut, copy, Paste, Group, and many more with the last one Format Shape. As we can see in the attached image.

After clicking on Format Shape then a new window will be open on the right side of the Microsoft Visio. As we can see in the attached image.

We can see two options related to formatting.

1)Fill

2)Line

If we want to see more options then click on File and Line then more options will open. Here we can see.

For Fill, we can see options related to filling color of line or shape. 

No Fill: If we select no fill then the shape will be inserted without color.

Solid Fill: With solid fill, we will select any color

Gradient Fill: We can add gradient color

Pattern Fill: we can add patterns with the help of Pattern fill.

Transparency: We can increase and decrease color intensity from 0% to 100%

For Line, we can see different options for lines related to the line.

For Fill, we can see options related to filling color of line or shape. 

In the above image, there are many options related to lines we can perform related to requirements.
In the following image, we can see that we have used this formating for line in the flowchart.

In this way, we can format our line in Microsoft Visio. Also, we can turn our lines into curved lines, straight lines, and right-angle lines.
