How to draw a Straight Line in Microsoft Visio?

In this article, we will learn how we can draw a straight line in Microsoft Visio (ms Visio). It's very important to draw a straight line in Microsoft Visio. Sometimes, we want to connect shapes with the help of a straight line along with an arrowhead on it to show relationships from one to another that is why we insert a straight line in Visio.

There are two different ways to insert a straight line in Visio. We will discuss both of them which you like you can go with it.

Method:1

In-Home tab then Tools, In tools, we can see a basic shape like Rectangle, Ellipse, Line, Freeform, Arc, and Pencil.

Our purpose is to draw a straight line so we will select the Line tool from the Tools group. Then that our cursor will change into a Plus sign along with a line.

If we want to insert a straight line in any direction then we can just click and drag in any direction then the line will be inserted in our Visio document.

If we want to drag the line at the right angle then hold the shift key + click and drag the at  90°. 

In this way, we can insert a straight line with the help of holding the shift key + and dragging the cursor. Similar way we will insert a Horizontal line.

After some settings like inserting text with a horizontal line as well as will vertical line and angle then we can see that the following result.

In this way, we can insert a Horizontal line or Vertical line, or right angle line according to our willing.

Method:2

In this method, we will insert a straight line in any direction with the help of a connector.

Go to the Home tab > Tools > Connector

Select the connector then we will see that our cursor will change into plus sing along with line show right-angle line. Just go to drawing click and drag from one point to another point.

We can see that straight lines are inserted in Visio also we can connect the shape with the help of the connector after connection or inserting the shape then we have to go to the pointer tool. If we will not select the pointer tool then we will insert a line instead of other work.

In this way, we can insert a straight line and connect the shapes in Visio. As we know that inserting a straight line is very important in Visio.
