Draw.io Vs Microsoft Visio

In this article, we will discuss both draw.io as well as Microsoft Visio. Both are very powerful tools in designing flowcharts, organizational tools, network diagrams as well.

We Get's Started with Draw.io. As we know that draw.io is also known as diagram.net. In this article, my 100% favor is with draw.io because draw.io is totally free to create flowcharts, org charts, network diagrams and anything that we want to design in Visio also can start our project in draw.io and also it's friendly to share with our colleague and friend.

When we search out draw.io or diagram.net then a new page will be open as we can see in the attached screenshot.

There are two options to start opening draw.io or diagram.net. We can create a new diagram or we can open any existing diagram in draw.io. In draw.io we can open Visio files having extensions .vsdx or .vsd or any older version of Visio.

You can go with any option. In this case, I am going with "Create New Diagram" then see what happens next.

On the top, there is a document name. We can rename it according to our own document name. As we can see that there is a blank page, Class Diagram, Flowchart, Org Chart, Swimlane Diagram, Entity Relationship Diagram, and many more. when we create it then we can save our files anywhere are save them as root folders.

If we create a "Blank Diagram" then we can see the shapes on the left-hand side and lines on the top to connect with the shapes in draw.io

On the other hand, Visio is a diagramming software like a flowchart, org chart, network diagram, floor plan, cross-functional flowchart, and many more types of flowcharts.

Network diagrams have further types such as Detailed network Diagram, Azure Diagram, Basic Network Diagram, Active Directory, Rack Diagram, SDL Diagram, Web Site Map, LDAP Directory, Detailed Network Diagram..., Basic network Diagram - 3D, and AWS Diagrams.

Basic Flowchart has further types such as Basic Flowchart, Cross-Functional Flowchart, Travel Request Approval Workflow, Work Flow diagram, Microsoft SharePoint 2013, Data Flow Diagram, BPMN Diagram, Audit Diagram, SDL Diagram, Program Structure, IDEFO Diagram, Six Sigma Diagram, Work Flow Diagram - 3D, Microsoft SharePoint 2010, Property Buying Flowchart, Waste Classification procedure, Environmental impact study, Theater booking process, Patient medical process, Article publishing process, Microsoft Forms Feedback, Work Flow Diagram, Travel REquest Approval Work Flow, Microsoft Forms Feedback, Data safety chart, Basic Starter Diagram, Work Flow Diagram, and Work Flow Diagram Template.

If you don't have Visio then we can go with the draw.io and we can open any existing Visio file in draw.io. And there is a lot of option that are draw.io to work with.
