How to Draw Process Flow Diagram in Visio?

In this article, we're are going to look at how we can draw a process flow diagram in Microsoft Visio. Visio is a diagramming and vector graphics software introduced by Microsoft and with Visio.
You can pull together flowcharts network diagrams floor plans and many other types of diagrams. But in this article, we're going with the process flow diagram in Visio.

First, let's overview the three most important Visio concepts.
  1. Shapes
  2. Stencils
  3. Templates
Shapes are objects that you drag onto your drawing page and this is what you used to build your diagram Visio stencil is a collection of shapes in each stencil that have something in common they follow a similar pattern and similar theme.

For example, basic flowchart shapes have processed a process document decision start and end in beta shapes.

For this, we have to navigate to the file tab click on the new type in swimlane.

Then select the Cross-functional flowchart that has a swimlane separator swimlane vertical and separator vertical shapes and templates used to create particular kinds of diagrams.

When you want to create a diagram starting with the template for that type of diagram which you can search when you start a new Visio diagram.

For example to create a new cross-functional flowchart diagram navigate to the file tab click on the new type in swimlane and then select the cross-functional flowchart diagram now.

let's go ahead and create a simple flowchart diagram to do that navigate to the new tab and type flowchart in the search bar and select cross-functional flowchart diagram.

Select the horizontal type of the diagram as this fits the best to what we're trying to accomplish these you created the template with the new swim lanes.

We are defining the deployment process we need to identify agile team members for each swim lane and type their names you do this by clicking on the swim link title and typing the role of the team member.

You start dragging and dropping shapes from the stencil for the basic flowchart diagram into the diagram itself and then you connect those shapes based on the functions that you try to describe.

You start with the start shape and then add processed shapes and then connect them in the right sequence that would describe what each team member will be doing for optional steps use sub-process and for decision steps, you use decision shape.

After designing the whole process flow diagram in Visio. You can see there is only one color scheme in our process Flow Diagram in Visio.

Once the diagram is complete you can experiment with the different design options if you go to the design tab you have a lot of choices in terms of design themes variants and backgrounds each theme has its own set of variants and you can pick any background.

If you want to change the background for your Process Flow Diagram in Visio. If you are not interested in the background color then leave your Process Flow Diagram without the color scheme.

In this way, you can design your own Process Flow Diagram in Visio. If you have any problem in designing your Process Flow Diagram then describe your problem in the comment section.
