How to Design Cross-Functional Flowchart in Microsoft Visio?

In this article, we will initially talk about the cross-functional flowchart in Visio. Cross-functional flowcharts are divided into sections and each section has its own process sometimes the sections are connected to each other and we can easily understand these processes as these are divided into steps.

As we can see in the above cross-functional flowcharts there is the main heading and then there are four sections.
  1. Credit Dept
  2. Management
  3. Sales
  4. Customer
And in each section, there are further processes, subprocess, decisions, start/end, and data points in our section, and then finally we can understand and proceed with the steps easily.

Cross-Functional Flowchart is an example of a Flowchart

For example, if we open our templates in the start menu then let's get started.

As we can see when we open Microsoft Visio then we move to "New" then we can see there are Categories options and then there is all kind of templates. Let's mention them below.
  1. Business
  2. Engineering
  3. Flowchart
  4. General
  5. Maps and Floor Plans
  6. Network
  7. Schedule
  8. Software and Database

Finally, at the end "New from existing" then, we can start from the blank page or start from the existing document that we already have. As we can see in the following screenshot.

If we will open from the "New from existing" then it's ask us the location of the document to which we are going to open.

By the way, our main purpose is a Cross-functional flowchart that is why we are going with the flowchart then we will click on the "Flowchart" then we will what happens with it.

After clicking on it then we will see that more kinds of flowchart options will be open as we can see in the following screenshot.

When we open the Flowchart then all categories of the flowchart are displayed in the flowchart category. Now, we explans the thing that are lies within flowcharts.

  1. Basic Flowchart
  2. BPMN Diagram
  3. Cross-Functional Flowchart
  4. Work Flow Diagram
These are the main categories of the flowchart in Microsoft Visio. As we can see that Cross-Functional flowchart is also one of the kinds of flowcharts that we have already discussed early on in this article.

Now, I am going with a Cross-functional flowchart.

After further moving, we can see that more templates related to the cross-functional flowchart are open. If you want to go with anyone you can go with it or if you want to go with the blank page then it depends upon you.

There are two types of cross-functional flowcharts.
  • Horizontal Cross-Functional Flowchart
  • Vertical Cross-Functional Flowchart
On the top left side, there is a blank page if we will start with the blank page then our artboard will be empty and the shape pane will contain shapes related to the cross-functional flowchart in Microsoft Visio.

Horizontal Cross-Functional Flowchart
If we select the horizontal Cross-Functional Flowchart from the above screenshot then we will see what type of Cross-Functional Flowchart is inserted is horizontal Cross-Functional Flowchart in Microsoft Visio.

In horizontal Cross-Functional Flowchart, our data start from the left side and move towards the right side in a horizontal position that is why we call this type of the Cross-Functional Flowchart as horizontal Cross-Functional Flowchart in Microsoft Visio.

Vertical Cross-Functional Flowchart
If we select the Vertical Cross-Functional Flowchart from the above screenshot then we will see what type of Cross-Functional Flowchart is inserted is Vertical Cross-Functional Flowchart in Microsoft Visio.

In Vertical Cross-Functional Flowchart, our data start from the top side and move towards the bottom side in a vertical position that is why we call this type of Cross-Functional Flowchart a vertical Cross-Functional Flowchart in Microsoft Visio.

In this article, we learn how we can insert a cross-functional flowchart in Microsoft Visio and the types of cross-functional flowchart.
