In this article, we will learn how we can change connector types in Visio. As we are working with flowcharts, organizational charts, workflow, and any other type of work in Visio. Then we have to connect shapes with each other to show the relationship between them then we have to connect with the help of a connector.
There are three types of Connectors in Visio.
- Right Angle
- Straight Line
- Curved Line
The question is where we will find out these connector types in Visio. We will find out these connectors in the Design tab > Layout > Connectors
If we will click on the Connectors then we will find out these three types that are shown in the following image. Right angle connector, straight Line connector, and curved line connector.
Right Angle
In this case, all lines are at the angle of 90° as by the name of the right-angle means an angle of 90°. If we will use right angle connector types then our all line will be the 90° in our document as shown in the following example.
For selecting right angle connector we will go to the Design tab > Layout > Connector then we will click on the Connector then the drop-down menu will be open then finally we will select right angle connector type.
As we can see that all lines are an angle of 90°. This looks good structure of our document also modern, professional and so clean. These provide a clear relationship between each other as we can see.
Straight line
In this case, all lines are straight lines from the diagram to another diagram in Visio. But straight connectors are used less as compared to right angle connectors. We use a straight-line connector somehow. I am going to show you above example as a straight line connector.
For selecting straight line we will go to the Design tab > Layout > Connector then we will click on the Connector then drop down menu will be open then finally we will select straight line connector type.
We can notice that this one is not professional as compared to the right angle connector was looking nicer and clear.
We use straight line where there shapes are in front of each another. For this case I am going to show you an example.
We can see that when shape are in front of each other then we can use straight line connector otherwise this will never work.
Curved line
In this case, connector type we use to connect between these shape are curved and we use curved line connector to make our flowchart more fancy as compared to the right angle connector type in Visio.
For selecting curved line we will go to the Design tab > Layout > Connector then we will click on the Connector then drop down menu will be open then finally we will select curved line connector type.
